Xavier coach Chris Mack has agreed to a deal to become the new head coach at Louisville, according to ESPN.

The deal is seven years and is worth about $4 million per year.

Louisville announced a press conference for 4 p.m. on Wednesday.

Mack met with Louisville officials this weekend to discuss the head coaching position, according to multiple reports.

Mack is already out recruiting and offering scholarships to build his new team. Per sources and the Louisville Courier Journal, Mack has already offered scholarships to Class of 2019 studs Precious Achiuwa, Cole Anthony, Keion Brooks, Ashton Hagans, Armaan Franklin, Josh Nickelberry and Kahlil Whitney.

Mack is 215-97 since taking the Xavier job in 2009 and has led the program to eight NCAA Tournaments in nine years. The Musketeers were a No. 1 seed in this year’s tournament but fell to Florida State in the Round of 32.

In Mack’s first two seasons at Xavier, his teams were the Atlantic-10 Regular Season Champs and this year’s group won the Big East Regular Season title.

David Padgett was relieved of his duties as acting head coach of Louisville last week. All signs pointed toward hiring Mack when Padgett was let go.

Mack’s wife, Christi, grew up and has family in Louisville.
