The NCAA has ruled Auburn forward Danjel Purifoy will be eligible to play the 2018-’19 season but will be suspended for 30 percent of the scheduled regular-season games, a spokesperson for the Auburn University president’s office confirmed to the Montgomery Advertiser.

A fourth-year junior next year, Purifoy was ineligible this season due to the ongoing investigation involving the indictments and the arrests of former Auburn assistant coach Chuck Person.

“We worked diligently with the NCAA on behalf of both our student-athletes who were ineligible this season,” Auburn University president Steve Leath said in a release. “The process was arduous, but it was important that we do everything we could to put Danjel Purifoy and Austin Wiley in the best position to resume their Auburn basketball careers. We’re happy for them and their teammates and coaches.”

Wiley, a sophomore forward and former five-star recruit, was also ineligible this season due to the connection with Person but the NCAA ruled on Jan. 11 that Wiley will be eligible for competition in the 2018-19 season.

Auburn head coach Bruce Pearl expects Wiley to enter the 2018 NBA Draft process in the next couple weeks.

Last season, Purifoy averaged 11.5 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.4 steals, his only season in an Auburn uniform.
