Don’t look now, but The Fighting Danny Hurleys are red hot.
Rhode Island won its 14th straight game, 81-68, at VCU on Friday night to improve to 19-3 overall, 11-0 in the A-10. Richmond and Davidson are the next closest teams at 6-3 in the conference.
The No. 22 Rams also won theirĀ 19th consecutive game vs. an A-10 opponent. They are also 2-0 this year against Big East opponents, with wins over Seton Hall and Providence.
E.C. Matthews had 18 points and 5 rebounds and Jared Terrell went for 16 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists in the win. Cyril Langevine added a double-double of 12 points and 18 boards.
“Well, we got a break coming up,” Terrell told ESPN, “so now it’s just reset our minds and get ready to go.”
ESPN’s Joe Lunardi currently has the Rams as a No. 7 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
“The key to this run is just defense like last year,” Terrell said. “But we got so many weapons that can score. We got a lot of guys that are unselfish, that are willing to move the ball.
“We can all make shots and we all share the ball.”
