Taeshon Cherry, the 6-foot-8 small forward from Foothills Christian (CA), has committed to Arizona State, he told 247.

A former USC commit, Cherry took an official visit to Tempe on Jan. 11.

“When I went on that official a couple of days ago and it felt like home to me,” Cherry told 247. “They treated me like family. He’s a fiery competitor and it’s just what I wanted. He’s everything I wanted and more. Me and him really bonded together.”

Playing for the Oakland Soldiers on the EYBL circuit this summer, Cherry averaged 12.4 points and 8.2 rebounds per game while leading his team to a Peach Jam title along with UConn signee James Akinjo.

“Not just the basketball people, the administration of the school made an effort to come see me and come talk to my family and get to know me as a whole,” Cherry said. “It wasn’t just the basketball team, it was the whole school showing me love and treating me like I was already there as a student. They were all just in love with me and I was in love with the school. It felt like home to me.”

Cherry is the third member of Bobby Hurley’s 2018 recruiting class along with four-star prospects Luguentz Dort and Elias Valtonen.

According to 247Sports, Cherry is the No. 27 player in the class of 2018 and the No. 2 prospect in the state of California.
