Donatas Kupšas, the 6-foot-8 power forward from Long Island Lutheran (NY) High School, took his third official visit to Fordham last weekend (Dec. 9). He spoke with ZAGSBLOG on Wednesday about the visit.

“It went great. Fordham is a great place and it’s close to Manhattan,” said Kupšas. “It’s in New York, close to my high school and my friends are out here. It’s also a high academic school with great basketball.”

In addition to Fordham, Kupšas has also taken official visits to Weber State (Nov. 24) and Hofstra (Nov. 26). He spoke about both schools.

Weber State: “It’s far, but it’s been a high individual program for years. They are all really nice people. I love the team and the coaches.”

Hofstra: “It’s one of the best business schools in the country, so it’s a great academic school. Their basketball program is great too.”

Along with his three official visits, Kupšas also mentioned Vermont among the schools working the hardest for his recruitment. He is still unsure whether or not he will take an official visit to Vermont.

“I’m still thinking about it,” said Kupšas on a possible Vermont visit. “”It’s hard with the time and schedule that I have right now during the season.”

He also spoke briefly about Vermont, saying, “I don’t know much about them, but they are a very good basketball program.”

Kupšas said he’s looking to make his college decision sometime after New Year’s but is “still open to everything”. He also spoke about what he’s looking for in a school when deciding where to commit.

“The team and coaches come first,” he said. “It comes down to if they are willing to put in the work with me. It also comes down to the academics and all the other little things.”
