Jordan Mitchell, the 6-foot-7 small forward from Montverde (FL) Academy, spoke with ZAGSBLOG on Monday about his recruitment. Mitchell, who currently has four offers, spoke about each school that has offered him thus far.

Florida: “I like how they recruit lengthy wings. I would say my game is similar to Devin Robinson.”

Iowa: “I haven’t really paid attention to Iowa as much, so I can’t really say.”

Ohio State: “With the new coaching staff, I just need to get more comfortable with them. I went up there in the summer and I just like the atmosphere. I liked what the coaches had to say.”

Xavier: “Coach [Chris] Mack. I like how intense he is during the games and how he lets his players play freely.”

In addition to those four schools, Mitchell has also received interest from schools such as Michigan, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Princeton, Kansas, Wisconsin, and Louisville. While he doesn’t have any visits currently planned, Mitchell has taken unofficial visits to South Carolina and Ohio State.

“I hope to visit Virginia, Kansas, West Virginia, and back to South Carolina and Ohio State again,” said Mitchell. “I don’t really have a timetable for when I want to commit. I just know it’s going to be during my senior year.”

Although he doesn’t have a timetable for his decision, he made it clear that he knows what he’s looking for in a school, as he said, “Basically, how I fit in the program. A lot of it comes down to if I like how the coaches will have me play, the way he’s going to have me on the floor.”

According to 247Sports, Mitchell is ranked as the No. 54 overall player in the Class of 2019 and the No. 14 ranked small forward. After transferring from Lincoln (OH) High School before this year, Mitchell is yet to play this season, recovering from a sprained ACL.

“I haven’t been able to play this season because during the summer I was playing with a sprained ACL,” said Mitchell. “I’ve been sitting out, preparing myself to get back into the season. I should be coming back sometime in January.”
