Josh Nickelberry, the 6-foot-4 Class of 2019 shooting guard from Oak Hill Academy (VA), visited North Carolina again this past weekend and has become a key priority for the Tar Heels.

“He’s been there a couple times, he went down on an unofficial,” Oak Hill coach Steve Smith said Wednesday on The 4 Quarters Podcast. “He’s got most of the ACC schools recruiting him with the exception of Duke. N.C. State, Maryland, all those schools are involved with him.”

Both North Carolina and N.C. State will come visit him at Oak Hill after college coaches can go out on Saturday to see recruits.

“I don’t think he’s thought about a list yet,” Smith said. “North Carolina is high on his list, he’s been there multiple times. They’ve offered, they’re coming in next week to see him, as well as N.C. State.”

Nickelberry told 247Sports.com he enjoyed his visit and the Heels are making him a priority.

“I’m an in-state kid, and they think I’m the best in my class,” Nickelberry told Slater. “They really want me to be a Tar Heel.”

He added that he’ll choose whatever option is best for him.

“Wherever I can grow my game the best,” Nickelberry said. “Where they’ll let me play my game and the coaches are good coaches, history coaches, and great atmosphere. Gotta be great academically.”
