Canadian wing Ignas Brazdeikis has the option of going to college in 2017 or ’18, and is considering his options at the moment.

“I’m definitely leaning towards 2018 but I’m leaving 2017 open as an option,” he said Friday in an interview.

The 6-foot-8, 220-pound Brazdeikis runs with CIA Bounce on the Nike EYBL circuit, where he’s averaging about 23 points per game for a team that is currently 5-3 and hoping to qualify for Peach Jam.

“The schools I hear the most from are schools like UConn, Florida, Michigan, Vanderbilt, Illinois, SMU and Oklahoma, probably,” he said.

“I’m probably going to cut my list down by maybe the end of the summer. I’m going to decide what I want to do and if I want to cut my list then.”

He added that “Iowa State and Pitt and a bunch of others would have me in both” 2017 and ’18.

Brazdeikis has already taken unofficials to Michigan, Vanderbilt and Cincinnati. He broke down each:

Michigan: “I liked the facility and the atmosphere at the game, that was really cool. I just enjoyed getting to know the coaching staff better.”

Vanderbilt: “I went for the game against Florida. I loved the city, I love Nashville and it’s just a great experience. The gym was really cool and the coaching staff was really nice.”

Cincinnati: “It was cool. I got to see the facility and the facility is really off the charts. I got to meet the coaches and they’re really great people.”

Brazdeikis says wherever he goes, he will put the ball in the basket.

“I feel I can bring a lot of different ways to score,” he said. “I feel like I’m an offensive threat as well as a mismatch in a lot of cases. I can score in a lot of ways, from the three-point line to attacking the hoop to sometimes posting little guys up.

“And defensively I feel I can guard multiple positions and rebound the ball.”
