Markelle Fultz, the 6-foot-4 point guard from the University of Washington will enter the 2017 NBA Draft, he announced on Twitter Friday.

“I’m excited and I’m just ready for the next chapter,” Fultz told Scout.com. “I’ve put in a lot of work to get here.”

Fultz, who finished the season averaging 23.2 points 5.7 rebounds, and 5.9 assists is projected to be the top pick in the draft according to DraftExpress.

Still, with UCLA’s Lonzo Ball, Kansas’ Josh Jackson and Duke’s Jayson Tatum all headed to the NCAA Tournament, it’s possible one of them could overtake Fultz for the No. 1 position.

If he goes No. 1, Fultz will be the second straight No. 1 pick to have missed the Big Dance, following LSU’s Ben Simmons last year.

“I think I had a good season,” Fultz said. “There was some stuff I could have done better. Overall I think I did a great job of sticking with it and being a leader. I think I became a much better player. I played an all-around game, not just offense or scoring or passing.”

Washington’s season came to an end on Wednesday, following a 73-78 loss versus USC. They finished the season with a dismal 9-22 record, losing their final 13 games of the season.
