ROSELLE, N.J. — Scottie Lewis and Bryan Antoine are just sophomores, but they are already attracting huge crowds.

Playing in the final game of the Primetime Shootout at Roselle (N.J.) Catholic High School, the Ranney School sophomores led their team to a 59-56 win over Newark East Side.

Antoine went for a game-high 22 points, while Lewis finished with 16 points, six rebounds and three blocks. Ahmadu Sarnor, also a sophomore, scored the game-winning bucket on a putback with 17 seconds remaining, and Lewis added one free throw.

Their performance came in front of Kentucky’s John Calipari and Tony Barbee; Seton Hall’s Kevin Willard, Shaheen Holloway and Grant Billmeier; Rutgers’ Steve Pikiell; Maryland’s Bino Ranson; St. John’s Matt Abdelmassih; and Georgetown’s Anthony Solomon.

“The kids have remained focused on the high school season and they are seeing the results with a big win tonight,” Team Rio director Brian Klatsky said. “Starting five sophomores and learning how to compete against experienced teams has been the goal. It was like a live session night for the kids tonight with a slew of coaches and eyes on them playing in an event like this.  They are used to the stage and it didn’t phase them.

“Coach Cal in the building always gets [the kids] hyped up but they just played their game.  Kentucky Georgetown, St. John’s, Rutgers, UConn and Maryland were all here and have been tracking the kids since freshman year.”
