SANTA ANA, Calif. —Marvin Bagley III, the 2018 power forward from Sierra Canyon (CA) High School, scored 43 points on Saturday en route to a 98-72 win over Bishop Gorman (NV) High School at the Nike Extravaganza. Bagley’s 43 points is the most points scored in a game in Nike Extravaganza history, surpassing Shabazz Muhammad’s 41 point game from 2012.

I had an attack mindset going into this game,” said Bagley. “Every game, I come out with that fire,”

The Nike Extravaganza has seen players such as Carmelo Anthony, Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, among others. When asked about whether it makes it a little more special, knowing the history of the event, Bagley said, “It’s always a great accomplishment to do something like this. I didn’t know that all those players came through this tournament. It’s a great accomplishment but now I have to have a short memory and keep moving on.”

Bagley is currently down to Arizona, Arizona State, Duke, Kentucky, Oregon and UCLA and is widely regarded as the top player in his class. “I’m looking for a place where I can play and just be myself as a player,” said Bagley. “Somewhere where I can be myself as a person off the court as well and just be around great people,”

Bagley has no upcoming visits planned but says that he would like to make his decision in the summer, before his senior year. “I’m going to wait until senior year, in the summer, after the EYBL is over,” he said. “That’s when I’ll make my decision but right now I’m just doing whatever I can to get this team wins and get to the playoffs,”

With their win over Bishop Gorman, Sierra Canyon has a 23-1 record with their only loss coming against Nathan Hale (WA) High School in the Les Schwab Invitational.
