St. John’s announced that it has granted troubled big man Zach Brown a complete release from his National Letter of Intent.

The 7-foot-1, 260-pound center from Miami was arrested last week after robbing a Walgreen’s on Taft Street in Hollywood, FL, according to the police report obtained by ZAGSBLOG.

The Miami-native signed an NLI with the Red Storm in November during the NCAA Early Signing Period. Brown is permitted to pursue opportunities with other NCAA member institutions.

“It was a mutual decision to release Zach from his national letter of intent,” said St. John’s head coach Chris Mullin. “We wish him the best of luck.”
