Shaquille Walters, a 6-foot-5 wing from London, England and Lee Academy (ME), verbally committed to Santa Clara head coach Herb Sendek and assistant Julius Hodge.

Arizona State and Georgetown were also involved for Walters, an explosive Class of 2017 wing.

“Shaq has chosen Santa Clara because he thinks he has a chance to be an impact player right away,” Lee Academy coach Igor Vrzina said. “Shaq is a 6-5 long shooting guard with great handles and a high basketball IQ. He’s a solid defender and has deep range from three-point [territory].”

Walters joins 6-4 Blair (N.J) Academy point guard Matt Turner and 6-9 Wasatch Valley (UT) big man Josip Vrankic in Santa Clara’s 2017 class.
