Rutgers has landed a verbal pledge from Eugene Omoruyi, a 6-foot-6, 228-pound wing from Ontario (Canada) Orangeville Prep.

Omoruyi, who’s from the Class of 2016 and will play this season, made his decision during a visit to Rutgers on Wednesday.

He is a skilled wing with a strong body and tremendous upside.

“It’s a great school with great academics and (I committed) mostly because of the coaching staff and their resume,” Omoruyi said, adding that he’ll “bring a great motor” he believes “cannot be matched.”

Omoruyi said he also considered Loyola-Chicago, Little Rock-Arkansas and Siena, among others.

He joins guard/forward Matt Bullock and forwards Issa Thiem and Cândido Sá in Rutgers 2016 class.
