  • Kwe Parker signs with Tennessee

Former Rutgers commit Kwe Parker has signed with Tennessee.

“Kwe wanted to be closer to home,” his AAU coach, Roderick Brown, told SNY.tv. “The chance to play in the SEC provides a place where Kwe can play and be closer to his family and friends.”

The 6-foot-2 2016 point guard from Wesleyan (N.C.) Christian decommitted from Rutgers on Nov. 4, leaving coach Eddie Jordan’s team without a commit in the early signing period.

“I think Kwe is like a Russ Smith, that’s how he plays,” Karolina Diamonds coach Kevin Graves told SNY.tv when Parker committed to Rutgers.

He joins small forward Jalen Johnson, his high school teammate, in coach Rick Barnes’ 2016 recruiting class.
