4_3847959Tristan Clark, a 6-foot-8 2017 power forward from Henderson (NV) Findlay Prep, committed to Baylor on Friday.

Ranked the No. 30 power forward in that class by 247Sports.com, Clark also considered Creighton and New Mexico, according to Scout.com.

“The first time I walked on the campus it just felt right,” Clark told Scout. “I liked the basketball program. The little town of Waco fits me real well. I like the coaching staff. It’s just the perfect fit. It’s close to home and I just felt like it was the best fit.”

He added: “Coach [Scott] Drew is a real positive guy. He’s an energy guy. He doesn’t let you down. He just wants to help you. I like him a lot. You can talk about anything. It can be about anything. He’s just an energy and positive guy. That’s what I really like about him.”

Clark is Baylor’s first commit in 2017.

“Tristan is a great pickup for Baylor,” Findlay Prep coach Andy Johnson told SNY.tv. “He is a very good student and a great teammate. He runs the floor well and is very skilled for his size. He can step out and hit the 15-foot jumper, too. He has great hands. He has also put on 10 pounds of muscle so far in our strength and conditioning program this year.”
