  • Dominic Artis to UTEP

Former Oregon point guard Dominic Artis is headed to UTEP, according to Felix Chavez of the El Paso Times.

The report said Artis chose UTEP over St. Mary’s of California and St. John’s.

But sources say new St. John’s coach Chris Mullin and his staff never recruited Artis, who at one point was a target of former St. John’s coach Steve Lavin.

The 6-foot-1 Artis last played at Oregon in 2013-14, averaging 4.1 points and 2.2 assists.

Artis, Damyean Dotson and Brandon Austin were all booted from the Oregon team in May 2014 as a result of rape allegations involving a freshman student.

Dotson has since transferred to Houston.

Artis will have two years of eligibility left.
