PurifoyPHILADELPHIA — At 6-foot-6 and 210 pounds, Danjel Purifoy has an ideal body for a college wing player, and a likely a professional career of some sort beyond that.

“I think I’ve been doing good,” Purifoy told SNY.tv Friday at the Reebok Classic Breakout. “I started off a little slow, but in the middle of the games I started attacking and do what I do.”

An Alabama native who will play next season at Hargrave (VA) Military Academy, Purifoy played this week on a fairly loaded team that also included Diamond Stone, Malik Ellison and Jeantal Cylla.

Naturally, that group drew a lot of college coaches.

Asked who was working the hardest for his services, Purifoy said “Maryland, Auburn, Alabama, UAB, Michigan, Kentucky and Georgia.” He said he holds offers from all those schools.

Maryland head coach Mark Turgeon watched several of Purifoy’s games this week.

“I just like that because of the program, what I hear about it when they talk to me,” he said. “And plus I got two players that my coach [Winfred Jordan] used to coach, Trayvon Reed and Robert [Carter], so I just listen to them because they’re like my big brothers.”

Like Purifoy, Reed and Carter competed for the Atlanta XPress AAU program.

Former Auburn star and current assistant Chuck Person was in the stands watching Purifoy, and that wasn’t lost on him.

“I had took a visit and I really liked it,” he said of Auburn.

Alabama is also an in-state option.

“They’re close to home,” he said.

Purifoy is also considering Georgia, which is local to his AAU team.

“I be in Atlanta with my AAU coach, that’s where he stays,” he said.

Purifoy said Michigan and UAB are also coming hard.

As for when he might cut his list, he has no immediate plans.

“I really don’t know right now because they’re still coming in hard,” he said.
