Three months after decommitting from Oklahoma State, Austin Grandstaff is off the board again.

The 6-foot-5, 195-pound Team Texas guard pledged to Ohio State Sunday after a weekend official visit.

Grandstaff, ranked No. 39 in the Class of 2015 by 247 Sports, also held offers from Florida, Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, Alabama, Arizona, Georgetown, Virginia, Washington, Iowa State, UNLV, Texas A&M, Xavier, Creighton, Marquette, UMass, Oregon and Western Kentucky.

“Just the relationship I developed with the coaching staff,” Grandstaff told SNY.tv Sunday by phone. “I talk to Coach [Thad] Matta a lot but I really got a feel that they’re a family-oriented coaching staff and I like that.

“And the fact that me and Mickey Mitchell are really good friends and he’s coming here.”

The 6-7 Mitchell out of Plano, Texas, previously committed to Ohio State, as did 5-9 Dayton, Ohio point guard AJ Harris.

Grandstaff said Matta told him they also “have a need for my position in that class, so I can come in and score it and help the team win. And then Buckeye Nation, all the fans from Ohio State are just great.”

Matta told Grandstaff he could play the “1, 2 or 3, any of those positions. And he could use me coming off stagger screens or in ball-screen situations. He said he just needs me to score.”

Grandstaff recently visited Florida but they just landed a pledge from guard KeVaughn Allen.

Now Grandstaff is done with the process.

“I’m really glad to have it over,”  he said. “This is a stressful thing to have all these coaches calling you and now I can just focus on getting better and getting ready for the next level.”
