After watching him play recently in West Virginia, North Carolina coach Roy Williams met Tuesday with 2015 Bishop Gorman big man Stephen Zimmerman in Las Vegas.

“He was basically just telling me how important I am, and what my role at UNC would be,” the 7-foot Zimmerman told “He said he is going to make good use of every viewing he gets by visiting as much as he’s allowed. We talked about a possible official to UNC.”

No date has been set for the official yet.

Zimmerman said Williams also joked that he doesn’t use his computer and only uses his cell phone for calls.

Zimmerman is ranked No. 2 in the Class of 2015 by

Williams also reportedly met with Zimmerman’s Bishop Gorman teammate Chase Jeter as well as Findlay Prep guard Rashad Vaughn.

Ranked No. 37 in the Class of 2015 by, Jeter previously told he holds an offer from North Carolina and that Williams told him he was going to recruit the “daggon dickens out of me.”

Meantime, Jeter will also reportedly take an official visit to Duke March 8 for the North Carolina game.

The No. 17-ranked player in the country by ESPN in the Class of 2014, Vaughn will take an official visit to North Carolina on Feb. 15. Vaughn already visited Iowa State and UNLV, on Nov. 17, and 25.

He will then have two officials left from his remaining group of schools, which now includes Kentucky.

“He’s thinking about (the decision), he has to,” Findlay Prep assistant Pete Kaffey recently told “He has to find a place find a place to go for college. He’s one of the few kids that are blessed to go anywhere, but I don’t think that he stresses out about it all that much. He’s planning on focusing on the season.

“That is why he is waiting that long because he can really focus on this year. But when the season is over, he can start to put some more effort into looking at all of his visits, and making a decision.”
