Durand ScottIf Durand Scott is going to play in the NBA, his path is going to include a detour for at least next season. If the Bronx native and Rice High School product’s first stop after a standout college career isn’t the NBA, at least it’s a high level of play overseas.

A source told SNY.tv on Sunday evening that the 6-foot-5 guard has signed with Blusens Monbus Obradoiro of Spain’s ACB, generally regarded as one of top leagues in Europe.

Scott worked out for the Nets twice in addition to a slew of other teams during the NBA Draft process, but ultimately went undrafted on June 27. He played in the Vegas Summer League with the San Antonio Spurs where he averaged 2.2 points in 10 minutes per game in five contests before opting to go overseas.

An ACC All-Defensive Team selection and the conference’s Defensive Player of the Year as a senior, Scott was a 125-game starter at shooting guard over four seasons for the Hurricanes, He ended his career with 1,650 points, good for eighth in program history, in addition to 404 assists, which sits fifth all-time. As a senior, he averaged 13.1 points and 4.0 rebounds per game as Miami enjoyed a landmark 29-7 season, winning the ACC regular season and conference tournament crowns to earn a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament.

Scott will be joined by another American import Spain, 6-foot-11 Bucknell product Mike Muscala, who was the 44th overall pick in the NBA Draft.
