Former Villanova guard Achraf Yacoubou is headed to St. Louis

“I’m proud to say that I’m a St.Louis Billiken we’re gonna work hard and win big!!!” he Tweeted.

The 6-foot-4 Long Island native chose St. Louis over Hofstra and Pittsburgh. He will sit out next season and will then have two years remaining beginning in 2014-15, when it is possible St. Louis could join the new Big East.

“He likes the system that they run offensively and felt comfortable that he could really be a big piece of what they’re doing, especially with the year to learn how they paly,” Long Island Lutheran coach John Buck told SNY.tv.

Yacoubou averaged 2.9 points and 2.6 rebounds in 12 minutes last season at Villanova.
