Rutgers, Georgetown and UConn are among those now involved with Wilfredo Rodriguez, a 6-foot-6, 195-pound 2013 small forward from Orlando (FL) East River High.

Rodriguez and 2013 point guard Allen Baez of Miami (FL), who are both Puerto Rican, will visit Rutgers today (Tuesday). (We profiled Baez here.)

Rodriguez is one of only three players in the history of the Florida Metro Conference to score 2,000 career points, along with former Memphis Tiger Darius Washington and New Orleans Hornets guard Austin Rivers, according to ScarberryMedia.com. In four years at East River High, Rodriguez averaged 20.2 points and 9.5 rebounds despite only having played basketball for six years.

“He is a scoring machine,” Carlos Morales, Rodriguez’s AAU coach, told SNY.tv. “He has a very long wingspan, which makes him a good rebounder. He has 950+ career rebounds.”

Rodriguez has flown under the radar somewhat because he played with the Puerto Rican 18U National Team last summer.

“He missed out on some open periods because of playing internationally,” Morales said.

He initially committed to Air Force Prep with the intention of going Division 1 in 2014, but could now suit up for a college in 2013.

    “I feel like I would be a scoring-type player,” Rodriguez told SNY.tv.
