After an initial report surfaced Wednesday indicating that five-star shooting guard Keith Frazier of Dallas Kimball had committed to Texas Tech, Frazier opted to push his announcement date back.
According to Reggie Rankin of ESPN.com, the 6-foot-5 Frazier will decide sometime after the April 3 McDonald’s All-American Game.
He is considering Texas Tech, SMU and Texas A&M.
“I just want to be 100 percent sure,” he told Rankin. “I only want to make this decision once.”
Earlier Wednesday, KCBD.com out of Lubbock, TX reported that “Frazier called Texas Tech officials today and verbally committed to the Red Raiders.”
As we recently reported on SheridanHoops.com, “Texas Tech recently fired everyone on coach Chris Walker’s staff but retained Walker, meaning various assistant coaching jobs are open. Speculation out of Texas has Frazier and Kimball Union coach Royce Johnson going in a package deal to Tech.
“It has nothing to do with Keith’s choice,” Erven Davis, Frazier’s mentor, said at the time, adding that Frazier remained uncommitted.
Frazier is a McDonald’s and Jordan Brand All-American who averaged 22 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists this past season.
Until he commits, he joins Andrew Wiggins, Aaron Gordon and Rysheed Jordan among uncommitted top prospects.
