Dwayne Morgan of Baltimore (Md.) St. Frances is one of the top small forwards in the Class of 2014. He will be contributing periodically to ZAGSBLOG during his junior season. Here’s his first entry:

For those who are unfamiliar my name is Dwayne Morgan and I’m a junior at St. Frances Academy (Baltimore, MD).

The regular season has come to an end. And our team  just accomplished two out of our our team goals.

Coming into the season our team came together and said we wanted to win the BCL Title, MIAA Title and get an invite to the Alhambra Catholic Invitational, one of the most prestigious Catholic League tournaments in the country.

In the beginning of the season we were rolling. I had to sit the first 11 games because I was battling tendinitis. We went a perfect 19-0 until we suffered a tough lost to Lower Merion High out of Philly.

None of us wanted to loose this game but we came to the conclusion that we needed a wake-up call. The other half of the season had its up and downs. We finished the second half of the season 10-3,losing two games by buzzer-beaters. Our record at the end of the season was 29-4.

And we faced John Carroll for the semifinal MIAA playoff round (the team that beat us by a buzzer-beater a couple weeks earlier). We pushed the tempo and played physical and made them play our game, pushing us to a 13-point win and a chance to compete for the MIAA championship.

In the championship game against Mount St. Joseph we where winning at one point 34-12 ! We finished the game winning, 75-62.

And every player on the team seized this moment. We all won our first high school championship! We haven’t gotten complacent nor are we satisfied.

On Monday while doing community service feeding the homeless we all said that we got one more goal to accomplish and that this isn’t over until we’e playing for the BCL Championship on Sunday. We believe anything other than that will be a disappointment.

I would like to thank Adam for allowing me to write ZAGSBLOG.com. Stay tuned for I will be periodically checking in ZAGSBLOG with more entries.
