Pittsburgh coach Jamie Dixon and UConn assistant Glen Miller were the latest high-profile coach to watch Brooklyn Bishop Loughlin combo guard Khadeen Carrington on Monday.

The 6-foot-3, 185-pound Carrington holds offers from Pittsburgh, UConn, West Virginia, Cincinnati, St. John’s, SMU, Villanova, Iowa State, Rutgers and Seton Hall, among others, his mother, Lima DuFont, told SNY.tv Tuesday.

Asked if any schools were working particularly hard or had developed strong relationships with the family, DuFont said, “Cincinnati, UConn, St. John’s and West Virginia.”

Born in Trinidad, Carrington is a shy person who does not like the limelight, but his mother said she has certain things in mind for her son’s future school.

“One of the things is that wherever he goes, he has to believe that they are genuine about him being there,” she said. “Not just because he’s a good ballplayer or he can go there and have them win games but they will really care about him continuing his maturity as a man.

“Another thing, I honestly believe the coach, they have to have really good character.”

Carrington is ranked No. 94 in the Rivals150 for the Class of 2014.

He has taken unofficials to St. John’s and UConn (for Midnight Madness), and plans to return to UConn soon.

“We’re going to go back to UConn,” DuFont said. “Hopefully, very soon.”

She said she is a fan of UConn coach Kevin Ollie.

“I like the coach, period,” she said. “He’s a great person. I like his personality. I think he’s very honest and not forgetting he’s a man of God.”

DuFont said she also likes Cincinnati coach Mick Cronin and St. John’s coach Steve Lavin.

“We went to St. John’s a couple weeks ago,” she said. “That, too, is very attractive. It was very nice. We sat down on a one-on-one and I thought he was somewhat a very honest person.”

As for Cronin, she said, “Khadeen took a liking to him.”

Carrington’s AAU coach with the New York Lightning, Shandue McNeill, believes he can make an impact at the next level.

“I think he has a high skill-set,” he said. “He has a combination of skill and athleticism.

“He’s very unique because he has the abilty to put a lot of points on the board quickly and he can do it in the confines of the system.”

“For us he’s a terrific scorer,” Loughlin coach Ed Gonzalez told SNY.tv. “He has a knack to score the ball. He just knows how to score the ball. He makes the right decisions and as he moves along and continues to play, he understands his role and his value to a team. He will make good decisions.”
