Seton Hall is still awaiting its first commitment in the Class of 2013 but they hope to get some movement after this weekend.
The Pirates will host Austin Colbert, Jevon Thomas and Jerron Wilbut for official visits, and several others for unofficials.
The 6-foot-9 Colbert will take an official visit to campus Friday-Sunday.
“Yes, I am,” Colbert told SNY.tv.
He has already visited Miami and Illinois and is down to those three.
The 6-foot Thomas is a New York native and former St. John’s pledge who is currently at St. John’s Military Academy, the school that produced Pirates sophomore forward Brandon Mobley.
“He’s wide open right now,” Bryan Clayton, St. John’s Military assistant, told SNY.tv. “Seton Hall is showing the most interest.”
Clayton said Ohio University, Oklahoma State, Kansas State and Marquette were also involved.
“They’re showing interest,” he said. ‘I wouldn’t say it’s serious interest yet. They’re keeping tabs on the kid.”
Clayton said he expects Thomas, originally in the Class of 2012, to be fully qualified next season.
“I’d be shocked if he’s not,” he said. “We’ve got everyhing into the Eligibility Center and we’re waiting for word back from them. He’s got the test score, he’s got the core GPA.
“He didn’t need to come to us academically. He came to us becsause he knew his reputation and wanted to play as a freshman wherever he decides to go.”
Seton Hall has Sterling Gibbs eligible at the point next year, and will work with converted two guard Aaron Cosby at the point this year.
Wilbut is a 6-2 shooting guard out of Chicago, who also attends St. John’s Military. He was the No. 33 shooting guard in the Class of 2012, per Rivals. Maryland, Dayton, Virginia Tech and Oregon were among those involved with him out of high school.
“He has high-major scoring ability,” Clayton said. “He can really shoot it, gets to the rack.”
He said Marquette and Xavier were also involved and that Wilbut will attend Musketeer Madness next weekend “and take a look at that.”
“He’s somewhat under-recruited now,” Clayton said.
Isaiah Lewis, the current St. Patrick and former Christ the King point guard, also told SNY.tv he planned to be at Seton Hall on Saturday.
