Tyler Roberson isn’t the only player at Roselle (N.J.) Catholic High School pulling high-major coaches into the gym.

Malachi Richardson, a 6-foot-5 2015 shooting guard, is drawing some attention, too.

North Carolina assistant Hubert Davis is expected to come in within the next two weeks, and Indiana, West Virginia, Ohio State, Miami, Auburn and Florida are also coming in, head coach Dave Boff told SNY.tv.

Kentucky head coach John Calipari and SMU coach Larry Brown are both expected Tuesday night for Roberson, and Kentucky’s Orlando Antigua and Kansas’s Joe Dooley were in last week for Roberson, and also saw Richardson. Florida coach Billy Donovan is due in Friday.

“It’s exciting, it makes me want to play even harder than I normally do,” said Richardson, who currently holds offers from Cincinnati, Rutgers, Seton Hall, James Madison and Miami.

Richardson transferred to Roselle Catholic from Trenton Catholic after “me and my father moved up here,” he said.

He is a long, athletic guard who looks like he could still grow a few inches and get stronger going forward.

“Malachi is going to be a great player,” conditioning coach Tom Sacks said. “He’s very unselfish, he shoots the ball well. He’s very competitive, you’ve got to love his competitive nature. He probably needs to handle the ball a little better, but sees the court well, makes some nice plays. He jumps well, he’s very athletic. He’s going to be a great player.

“It’s just a matter of getting these guys playing together. They never played together before. We have a young team with a lot of freshmen and a lot of sophomores and in time I think you’re going to have something very special here at Roselle Catholic.”

“I try to do everything,” Richardson said. “That’s what I’m working on, trying to be an all-around player.”
