So much for the Knicks finally being able to hold training camp with their full roster present and accounted for.

A team spokesman confirmed on Friday afternoon that shooting guard Ronnie Brewer, acquired by the Knicks via free agency in late July, had a left knee arthroscopy to repair a medial mensicus tear and will be out for approximately six weeks.

The Knicks did not say how the injury happened, only that it occurred during the past two weeks.

With a six-week timetable, Brewer is likely to miss all of training camp, which is slated for Oct. 2-7 at the Madison Square Garden Training Center in Greenburgh, N.Y. In addition, he is likely out for at least the first two preseason games, Oct. 11 at the Wizards and against the Celtics in Hartford on Oct. 13.

Should Brewer be out the full six weeks, he could still potentially be back for the Knicks’ final four preseason games, but would have less than two weeks to get ready for the season-opener on Nov. 1 against the Nets at the Barclays Center.

Brewer had been penciled in as the starter at shooting guard, a job that is likely to fall to J.R. Smith in Brewer’s absence. Chris Smith, J.R.’s younger brother, and newly-acquired James White also help make up a thin rotation at shooting guard.

The Knicks are already without Iman Shumpert, who is working his way back from a torn left ACL and meniscus suffered in the first round of the playoffs against the Heat. Shumpert is likely out until at least December.
