You think Memphis coach Josh Pastner wants to keep 6-foot-9, 245-pound power forward Jarnell Stokes at home?
Pastner arrived at Stokes’ home at 12:01 a.m. and stayed until about 2, according to Jevonte Holmes of Memphis YOMCA.
“Great midnight meeting w. Memphis coaching staff! Very productive!” Stokes tweeted.
Friday is the first day college coaches can meet with 2012 prospects.
“He [Pastner] concentrated on the city, the school and life after basketball here in Memphis as the kid is from Memphis,” Holmes said by text.
Pastner knows that the city of Memphis is loaded with talent. Stokes and the YOMCA 17s reached the final of the Peach Jam, losing to BABC, and the 16s won the event.
“There’s so many good high school coaches, so many good summer league coaches that the players from Memphis get really good skill instruction before they ever reach college,” Pastner told SNY.tv this summer. “One thing about the kids from Memphis, they all play hard.”
Holmes said Stokes will also host Tennessee Sunday, Arkansas Sept. 15 and UConn Sept. 17. Missouri is also coming in. He’s also considering Florida.
