Highly regarded forward Mitch McGary of Brewster (N.H.) Academy has trimmed his list to six schools: Florida, Maryland, North Carolina, Michigan, Duke and Kentucky.

“He’s seriously interested in all six to check them out,” Tim McGary, Mitch’s father, told SNY.tv by phone.

“He’s going to go to Florida this week. And we’re going ty try to visit Kentucky and North Carolina and Duke. He’s already been to those other two [Maryland and Michigan].”

Tim said the Kentucky visit could happen “before he goes back to Brewster [Sept. 10], as soon as Coach Cal comes back. Probably at the end of the month.”

Then the family will do a North Carolina swing in early September.

“Then when my wife and I take him back to Brewster in the beginning of September, we’ll take a visit to both of those schools, Duke and North Carolina. That week before the 10th we’ll drive out to North Carolina and check out both schools and then drive up to Brewster and drop him off.”

The 6-foot-10 Chesterton, Ind., native, said he would consider adding other schools to the list.

“Maybe if another school stays in contact, but I kind of wanted to narrow it down to these six,” he told ESPN.com. “I’ve got strong feelings about these six schools.”
