South Kent (Conn.) shooting guard Ricardo Ledo will visit Kentucky and Louisville unofficially but no dates have yet been set.

“We tried picking a few dates but he had games on those dates,” Todd Quarles, Ledo’s AAU coach with Expressions Elite, said by phone.

The news was first reported by Scout.com.

Quarles said they looked at a Dec. 11 trip to Kentucky, but South Kent plays Bridgton Academy that day.

“We really don’t know yet,” Quarles added. “I’ve just got to sit down and match up the schedules and see what dates we can fly down there.”

Quarles said the preliminary list for the 6-foot-6 Ledo, the No. 2 shooting guard in the Class of 2012, includes Kentucky, Louisville, Duke, West Virginia, Syracuse, Pittsburgh, Villanova, Kansas, Florida, Providence and UCLA, which has recently “come on pretty strong.”

“They’ve just been going on up watching him play,” Quarles said of UCLA. “They’ve been very interested.”

Still, Kentucky and Louisville have particular interest for Ledo because of their coaches and histories.

“The main thing is he feels that both schools can get him to the next level and  make him a better person and much better player and keep him developing,” Quarles said. “And then tradition. I think the respect for both coaches.”

Still, those aren’t the only schools he’s considering.

“It’s not just those two schools,” he said. “It’s where he feels comfortable and is able to relate to the coaches, where the coaches will get more out of his inner self.”

Ledo dropped 30 points in a 115-105 loss to North Carolina commit P.J. Hairston and Hargrave Military Academy at the National Prep Showcase in New Haven, Conn.

“He could’ve had 40,” Quarles said. “He didn’t shoot the ball that well.

“The next game [against La Lumiere] he played OK. They won pretty easily. You can see his athleticism and skill level are off the chart.”
