New Rutgers head coach Mike Rice continues to bring in the top players from New Jersey and the surrounding area for visits.

The same week that Kadeem Jack unofficially toured campus, 6-foot-8  forward LaQuinton Ross of Burlington (N.J.) Life Center came to Piscataway.

“I took a visit out there,” Ross said Friday by phone on his way to Los Angeles for the Pangos all-american camp. “It was good. I liked the campus a lot and the new coaches over there.
I talked to the head coach and the assistants and I played.”

Ross, the No. 10 small forward in the Class of 2011, transferred to the New Jersey school midseason from Murrah (Miss.) High and averaged 18 points and 10 rebounds.

He lists a Who’s Who of colleges recruiting him, including West Virginia, Baylor, Maryland, Texas, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Syracuse and Villanova. He has been to both Rutgers and Seton Hall.

Dion Waiters, his former Burlington teammate, will be a freshman at Syracuse.

“I could see myself playing anywhere, any conference,” he said.

Ross will attend the NBA Top 100 camp and the LeBron James Academy later this summer and then plans to trim his list.

“I’m probably going to narrow my top five by the end of the summer,” he said.
