  • Terrences to Announce Together; Frazier to Fordham (UPDATED)

NEW YORK –– They share the same first name, the same high school and, soon, they will share the same college announcement date.

Terrence Jones, a 6-8 forward pictured at left, and Terrence Ross, a 6-5 guard, plan to announce together at Portland (Ore.) Jefferson High School on either April 23 or April 30.

“We’ve almost been through everything together, worked out, tournaments and he’s back home so we just wanted to give our school something to cherish that day, just choose the same day,” Jones said Thursday at the Jordan Brand Classic practice at Sports Club/LA in Manhattan.

Both players are considering four of the same five schools: Oklahoma, Kentucky, Oregon and Washington. Jones, the No. 13 prospect in the Class of 2010, is also considering UCLA, while No. 43 Ross (pictured at left) is mulling Kansas.

So, could they end up landing in the same spot for college?

“It could happen but I want him to do what’s best for him and me to do what’s best for me,” Jones said. “If that’s together then that’s good. But if it’s not then I’ll respect it.”

Three of Jones’ five schools are on the West Coast in Oregon, Washington and UCLA, but he said he doesn’t necessarily have to stay on the Left Coast.

“It really doesn’t factor for me just because I want to go somewhere that’s best for me and if that’s on the East Coast or West Coast that’s where I would want to be,” he said.

And what skills will Jones bring to his college team?

“[I’m a] versatile forward with great ball-handling skills and play-making abilities. I like to make plays for other players than myself,” he said.

Jones said the pair will announce either April 23 or 30 and have yet to decide when.

“Pretty much we both said we’re ready,” he said. “I just wanted to enjoy these games and have fun at all these games. I just wanted to be able to sit down with my parents and talk about it.”

    BRANDEN FRAZIER TO FORDHAM

Branden Frazier, 6-3 SG from Brooklyn Bishop Loughlin who initially committed to Hofstra, committed to new Fordham coach Tom Pecora. Pecora left Hofstra to take the Fordham job, taking assistant Van Macon with him.

“I feel like those are the guys who recruited me and really wanted me,” Frazier said. “I really wanted to play with them so I figured I should leave with them.”

Asked if he considered any other schools, he said: “I just considered Fordham.”

Pecora told Frazier he will be a combo guard.

“I’ll play a combo guard, point guard and shooting guard,” Frazier said.

Frazier will play for the City Team in the Jordan Regional Game Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at Madison Square Garden, and Loughlin coach Edwin Gonzalez is the team’s assistant coach.

Paul  Gilvary of Queens Holy Cross is the head coach.
