  • Calhoun Back for Four More Years

    UConn coach Jim Calhoun ended speculation about his future Thursday when he announced plans to sign a four-year contract extension that runs through the 2013-14 season.

    Calhoun, 68, is expected to sign the deal within the next couple of weeks, ESPN.com reported.

    “Let me officially put to rest the speculation about my future at UConn,” Calhoun said in a prepared statement from his agent Jeff Schwartz sent to ESPN.com. “We are close to finalizing a new contract and I plan on continuing as the head coach of the men’s basketball team for several more years.”
