  • Knicks Surpass Yanks’ Win Total

    Share Zagsblog Share Zagsblog
Finally, the Knicks surpassed the Yankees’ win total.

    For November.

With their 98-91 victory Saturday at winless New Jersey, the Knicks won their second straight and improved to 3-9 on the season.

The Knicks have now won three games in November (3-6), while the world champion Yankees (2-1) victory total for the month stands at two.

Keep in mind that it is Nov. 21 and baseball isn’t typically played in November.

“Very important,”  Knicks forward Al Harrington, who hit a huge 3-pointer down the stretch and finished with 17 points and 8 boards off the bench, told Tina Cervasio of the MSG Network. “Now we got two in a row, we’re on a winning streak so obviously it don’t get no easier.

“We got Boston [Sunday] so we have to turn our focus to that and come out and have a good game.”

The Knicks outscored the Nets 9-4 in the final 1:57 and got double-digit scoring from all five starters. David Lee put up 16 points and 12 boards, Wilson Chandler and Larry Hughes scored 13 apiece and Chris Duhon had a strong game with 11 points, 8 assists and 5 rebounds.

Nate Robinson failed to score for the Knicks, but nearly scored for the Nets when he made a 3-pointer for fun at the end of the first quarter — at the other team’s basket.

“We’re working on just don’t play with the game…You shouldn’t do that,” Knicks coach Mike D’Antoni said.

Eddy Curry scored just 3 points on 1-for-5 shooting in 12 minutes in just his second game of the season. But, as D’Antoni said, “He’s undefeated so we’ll go with that.”

Chris Douglas-Roberts paced the Nets with 24 points, Brooke Lopez had 18 points and 12 boards and Terrence Williams scored 17.

The Giants (0-2), Jets (0-2) and Nets (0-10) still haven’t won a game in November.

At 0-13, the Nets are threatening the league record for the all-time worst start of 0-17 held by the 1988 Miami Heat and 1999 L.A. Clippers.
