  • Harris to Cut List After Visit; Wroten Tears ACL; Big Week for Terrence Jones

Tobias Harris plans to cut his list of schools down to five after his home visit with UConn on Wednesday.

“We’re going to think about it for a week and then a week later we’re going to cut it down,” said Torrel Harris, Tobias dad. “We’re going to go over everything. We’re not going to rush on cutting it down because everyone came in here with a plan. Everybody came in with a plan.”

UConn will be the final school of a group of 11 to come in and make its presentation.

“We had to reschedule UConn because of some family obligations on our part,” Torrel said. “UConn has been recruiting Tobias since the 9th grade  They have a winning program with great coaches and they produce great pros.”
The last school to come in before UConn was Maryland.
“The Maryland home visit with Coach [Gary] Williams was good. He’s a  great coach, he talked about academics, the  basketball program and building a team to win another NCAA championship. He also talked about how Tobias would fit in great with the team that he is building for championship run,” Torrel said.
    WROTEN TEARS ACL

Tony Wroten, Rivals’ No. 2 point guard in the Class of 2011, tore his ACL while playing in his first organized football game since seventh grade and is expected to miss the upcoming basketball season.

“The last time I heard from him, which was [Friday], I think he’s supposed to have surgery next Friday and then go from there,” Seattle (Wash.) Garfield football coach Anthony Allen told The Seattle Times.

Typical recovery from ACL surgery takes 7-9 months, meaning Wroten would miss basketball season if he went through with it.

“We talked several times during the course of the day and he was in very high spirits,” Allen said. “We were sort of teasing each other and I said I wish he would get some crutches or something. He’s in remarkable spirits.”

Wroten is being recruited by Louisville, Villanova, Syracuse, St. John’s and Seton Hall and recently told me Syracuse was his favorite.

    BIG WEEK FOR TERRENCE JONES

Terrence Jones, a 6-foot-8, 220-pound  small forward from Portland (Ore.) Jefferson High ranked No. 13 in the Class of 2010, has a big week of in-home visits coming.
