Victor Oladipo,a 6-5, 202-pound senior shooting guard out of Hyattsville (Md.) DeMatha, has committed to Indiana after a weekend visit to the school.

Oladipo also considered N.C. State, Clemson, UNC-Charlotte and Notre Dame.

“I did,” he said by phone. “I just felt that was my home. Coach [Tom] Crean and the Indiana basketball coaching staff have become my family over the past couple months. They’ve been recruiting me since December. I felt like I went down there and it was the place for me.”

Oladipo is ranked No. 36 among shooting guards in the Class of 2010.

“I’m a high-tempo player. I play above the rim, take passion in my defense. I want to guard the best player on the court. That’s what I bring,” he said.

He joins 6-7 combo forward David Williams out of Florida as Indiana’s second commit for 2010. The Hoosiers are targeting Elizabeth (NJ) St. Patrick guard Kyrie Irving for their third scholarship.

“I think if he was there we could be a Final Four team,” Oladipo said.

“He’s a great player. I played against him before. I think he fits the system real well. The way they play and come off ball screens and set up for their guards.”

Irving is due to visit Indiana Oct. 2.

    McADOO TO CAROLINA

North Carolina also landed a big commitment from James McAdoo, a 6-foot-8, 210-pound junior forward from Norfolk (Va.) Christian School who averaged 25 points and 12 boards last year.

Bob McAdoo, James’ uncle, was a second-team Associated Press All-American at North Carolina in 1971-72. That year he averaged 19.5 points and 10.1 rebounds and led the Tar Heels to the Final Four.

Ronnie and Janet McAdoo, James’ parents, played basketball at Old Dominion.

“Coach [Roy] Williams told him, ’You will not play point guard, and you won’t play center,’” Ronnie Williams told the Boston Herald.

McAdoo joins 6-5 wing P.J. Hairston in Carolina’s recruiting class for 2011.
