I like how Omar can't really pronounce lobbied.

He says "lobby" every time. He never used it in the past tense.

I understand that english isn't his first language but come on Mets -- can't you get someone just a tad bit smarter.

Anyone of latin origin would be fine just as long as they have more command over the english language than Ozzie Guillen.

I also agree with AZ...Rubin is way too smart to actually try to get a job with the team he covers.

In journalism, it wouldn't be cool to ask for a job directly from a team you're covering. You are supposed to cover the team objectively and without any interest. If there was the implication that you might land a job based on "positive" coverage of the organization, you are no longer an objective reporter and the fans can no longer trust your reporting.

It appears as though Rubin wasn't doing this as much as making general inquiries about entering the baseball field given that print journalism is dying on the vine.

What's wrong with making inquiries when you're considering changing jobs? I'm sure at least 90 percent of Americans have done this.

I do not believe this reporter should be removed from his beat even if he did formally apply for a job. Come on now! That the way it works. You apply. You interview. You either get the job or you don't. Both sides move on.

I do believe that Minaya was very conscious of what he was saying when he used the word, "lobby." That word has a very different connotation than "inquire" or "apply."

By choosing the word lobby, Minaya was implying something underhanded or sneaky. Minaya may have also tried to put Rubin in the very uncomfortable situation of now having to expain to his current employer- the Daily News- why he's looking for a job.

The Mets should kept Willie Randolph and fired the people they kept.
