  • Summer in the City Tips Tuesday at St. John's; Jersey Celtics, New Heights Fall in Close Games

    The Summer In The City (SITC) event tips on Tuesday at St. John’s and some of the top 16U teams will be in action, including New Heights, Metro Hawks, the Panthers and Team Philly.

    The 16U, 15U and 14U brackets run Tuesday and Wednesday and the 17U runs Thursday.

    Speaking of New Heights, Jayvaughn Pinkston and company lost 77-74  in OT at the buzzer to Minnesota Pump N Run in the quarterfinals of the adidas Super 64 event in Las Vegas.

    Down in Orlando, Kyrie Irving and the the New Jersey Celtics lost to Team Takeover in the 17U Super Showcase semis. IRving had 17 points, Chase Plummer scored 12 and Kevin Boyle Jr. scored 10.

    We hear Irving was the best player at the event.

    “Not even close,” one D-1 coach said.

    **New York guard Doron Lamb dropped 32 points Saturday night as the New York Gauchos downed Louisiana Select to reach the quarters at the Super Showcase. Lamb told Rivals his list includes Kentucky, Kansas, Oklahoma, Rutgers, Arizona, Clemson, Maryland, St. John’s, Oklahoma State, Seton Hall, and Florida. He told Rivals he will visit Kansas and Oklahoma.

    **ESPNU will show the Albany City Rocks 17U Black Team on Monday at 5:30.
