Wesley Matthews scored 24 points and No. 10 Marquette opened the second half with a decisive run to pull away from Seton Hall for a 79-67 victory in Milwaukee.
The Golden Eagles (22-4, 11-2) Big East) trailed by 3 points at halftime but outscored the Pirates (14-11, 5-8) by 16-3 out of the break. Jeremy Hazell scored 23 for Seton Hall, which visits St. John’s on Sunday in Queens.

“There’s a reason they’re a top-ranked team and haven’t lost at home,” said Seton Hall’s John Garcia, whose fifth foul led to two technical fouls. “They came out with a different energy in the second half and we didn’t match it. We were down three and next thing you know we were down 10.”
