Pitt Trying to Get Famous
Posted on Feb 12, 2009 12:22 pm

Pittsburgh associate head coach Tom Herrion is slated to come watch Jarrid Famous tonight against TCI at the Gauchos gym.

Herrion will be in New York checking out a few high school games during the day.

Famous is a 6-foot-11 center from Westchester Community College who is leading the NJCAA in rebounding at 14 per game and ranks No. 5 in scoring at 24 points per game.

“Jarrid is just trying to finish the season strong,” WCC assistant Dave Vandiver said. “Seton Hall, Villanova, Missouri, St. John’s, Xavier, Houston, UConn are on his list of schools of interest.”

Famous will sign in the spring and have two years of eligibility remaining.

“That’s my goal,” Famous said previously. “Wait to the spring, see how it goes.”

Hey Zags i know Famous had mentioned he really liked Seton Hall and it was near the top of his list but that was before he went to UCONN and loved that. With all these other big schools involved now, what are the odds the Pirates will still land him? I mean they can gaurantee him playing time they could really use a legit center and rebounder like this. Thanks Zags.

Jarrid has continually said he likes Seton Hall and enjoyed his visits. He’s been back for several games. And it’s close to his home in the Bronx.

That said, he has also visited UConn and now Pitt is apparently interested.

My best guess is he goes to Seton Hall, but we’ll have to see how it plays out.

Thanks Adam I really hope he ends up at the Hall thatd be a huge pick up. With the players they have coming back and the incoming transfers and Mel their future is bright. With the addition of Famous id say wed pe primed to make the tournament and maybe even win a couple. Thanks
