  • Nike’s Select Team Goes Unbeaten in Brazil

    Nike’s USA Select Team finished its Brazil tour Friday with a 4-0 undefeated record.  The team won its final game against Paulistano, 97-83 in a very tough battle.  Avery Bradley led the team in scoring again with 25 points, while Xavier Henry added 23. Milton Jennings had 13 points and four rebounds, Daniel Orton had 10 points and seven rebounds and Phil Pressey finished with nine points and seven assists.

    Henry will make an official visit to NCAA champion Kansas the weekend of Sept. 19 and national runner-up Memphis the weekend of Sept. 26.

    The eight-day Brazil tour included visits to two local orphanages and a pro soccer game. The team was also welcomed by Brazilian NBA player Anderso Varejao of the Cavaliers.

    8/22 – Win vs. Paulistano, 97-83 (Avery Bradley 25 points; Xavier Henry 23 points)

    8/21 – Win vs. E.C. Pineheiros, 104-68 (Avery Bradley 21 points; Keith Gallon 20 points)

    8/18 – Win vs. Minas Tenis Clube, 111-70 (Avery Bradley 29 points; Xavier Henry and Alex Oriakhi 17 points)

    8/17 – Win vs. Brasillia, 126-50 (Xavier Henry 29 points – 5 threes; Jamal Coombs-McDaniel and Avery Bradley 20 points)

    The select team consisted of Avery Bradley (Bellarmine Prep/Tacoma, WA), Jamal Coombs-McDaniel (Tilton/Tilton, NH), Keith Gallon (Oak Hill Academy/Mouth of Wilson, VA) Xavier Henry (Putnam City/Oklahoma City, OK), Milton Jennings (Pinewood Prep/Summerville, SC), Tommy Mason-Griffin (Oak Hill/Mouth of Wilson, VA), Alex Oriakhi (Tilton/Tilton, NH), Daniel Orton (Bishop McGuinness/Oklahoma City, OK) and Phil Pressey (Episcopal School of Dallas/Dallas, TX).
