Syracuse commit James Southerland will likely not be qualified to play in college this upcoming season because of his SAT score.

The 6-foot-7 Southerland, a small forward from the Bronx, N.Y. who spent last year at Notre Dame Prep (Mass.), appears headed back to prep school.

“If the need happens to be there for James, he’s always welcome (back),” said Notre Dame Prep head coach Ryan Hurd. “It’s definitely an option the way he conducted himself last year, if the opportunity or if the need on his end presented itself.”
