Xavier Henry, the No. 1 shooting guard in the Class of 2009 out of Oklahoma City Putnam City, has a top two of Kansas and Memphis, but will also visit UCLA and Texas.

The 6-foot-6, 210-pound Henry had planned to announce his school choice this week at the Lebron James US Skills Academy in lovely Akron, Ohio, but instead opted to wait.

“I was going to make an announcement this week about where I’m going to college, but then I found out I’m still not sure,” Henry told Gary Parrish of CBS Sportsline. “I talked it over with my mom and dad and now I’m not really sure where I want to go.”

Memphis head coach John Calipari and assistant Josh Pastner sat next to Kansas head coach Bill Self and assistant Joe Dooley on Sunday night watching Henry, who has a cracked ankle from which he is struggling to recover. Kansas beat Memphis in the national championship game, and has quite a bit of leverage on the recruiting trail.

“This is just my second day playing,” Henry told Jeff Goodman of FoxSports.com. “It still hurts, but I’ve just got to get it out of my head. I’m used to being more explosive. I can’t elevate like I used to. It better come back soon.”

Memphis is working very hard on elite 2009 players Henry, Rashanti Harris (who is now at The Patterson School in N.C.) and Derrick Favors, although we hear Coach Cal has cooled on John Wall and Lance Stephenson. Look for Wall to seriously consider Kentucky and Oklahoma State.

Kansas is recruiting Stephenson, Henry; Dominic Cheek of St. Anthony in Jersey City; and Jordan Hamilton of Dominguez.

NOTES: Goodman reports that Lamont “Momo” Jones, who re-opened his recruitment after committing to Louisville, suffered what appeared to be a serious left ankle injury….USA Basketball is due to make two more cuts from the U18 National Team Monday night after the scrimmage. The team has 14 finalists who took a tour of Washington, D.C. on Sunday, and must get down to 12 for the FIBA Americas U18 Championship beginning July 14. New York/New Jersey products Stephenson, Cheek and UConn-bound point guard Kemba Walker are in the pool of 14.
