NutterFormer Seton Hall guard Jamar Nutter will apparently work out for the 76ers, according to Bob Farrell, Nutter’s coach at Seton Hall Prep.

“He told me he had a workout with the 76ers and that he had some other options in Europe.” Farrell said.

The 6-2, 205-pound Nutter plans to work Farrell’s camps in June and July and then make plans from there.

“I would imagine he’s going to wait and see if there’s anything with the 76ers,” the coach said.

Nutter averaged 10.9 points and 2.7 rebounds last season and became the 35th player in school history to score 1,000 career points. He finished with 1,165, 26th all-time.

As for Brandon Costner, another one of Farrell’s former players, the coach said he had no first-hand knowledge of the situation but said it would be “counterproductive” for the 6-9, 238-pound Costner to transfer.

Costner“If he transferred and sat out another year, he’d only have one year left,” the coach said. “It would be kind of counterproductive for him to make a move and lose one of his two remaining years.”

A native of Montclair, Costner is a redshirt sophomore who saw his minutes and production dip this past year. He averaged 8.5 points and 4.6 rebounds after averaging 16.8 and 7.3 to lead N.C. State in both categories as a redshirt freshman.

Dan Wiederer of FayObserver.com had this to say on the subject:

” The (N.C.) State coaching staff believes (Costner will be back), sensing a newfound determination and sharpened leadership skills out of Costner. But there have been rumblings that the inconsistent forward, who’s on track to graduate early, grew so frustrated with his diminished role and dipping statistics last year that he might be tempted to jump ship.”

Farrell added that while Bobby Gonzalez had visited Seton Hall Prep during his tenure at Manhattan, the Seton Hall coach has yet to visit the school bearing the Seton Hall name during his tenure in South Orange.
