Maurice_suttonMaurice Sutton, a 6-11, 210-pound forward from Largo (Md.) High School, has a Final Four of potential destinations.

Sutton will decide between Indiana, Kentucky, Seton Hall and Villanova, all of whom have offered, according to Largo head coach Lewis Howard.

“He’s going to Indiana on Friday and then we go from there,” Howard said Tuesday by phone. “I think he’s going to Villanova after that. It may be during the week.”

The NCAA late signing period ends May 21.

Sutton visited Seton Hall the last weekend in April and the trip went well.

“It went great, he loved it,” Howard said. “He saw the Prudential Center. He got to play with the guys. He loved it.”

Asked if the commitment of 6-11, 340-pound center Melvyn Oliver to Seton Hall would impact Sutton one way or another, Howard said: “I don’t think so. They play two different positions.”

Sutton, originally from Newark, is ranked No. 30 among centers in the Class of 2008 and averaged 18 points, 12 rebounds and 9 blocks per game while leading Largo to the state 3A championship. In one game earlier this year against Crossland, Sutton had 35 points, 15 rebounds and 10 blocks.

“He likes the Big East,” Howard said. “The Prudential Center is a great facility and he’s got family there in the metropolitan area, so it’s a tremendous opportunity.”

Seton Hall coach Bobby Gonzalez visited Sutton and Howard and told them the young man would “be able to come in and contribute and bring a dimension that they definitely need at Seton Hall.”
